Nik Iskandar Putra, Senior Lecturer

I’ve been interested in food science since my undergraduate degree, which I studied in Malaysia. Everyone eats food and we need to ensure the food supply is safe and it contributes to global food security because it doesn’t matter how much food supply we have, if it’s not safe it’s not consumable. That’s my interest – to ensure food safety.

Cranfield is very friendly toward international groups.  In terms of teaching, I can’t say enough about the professors, they are very helpful and very encouraging.

I’m now employed as a senior lecturer by the university Putra Malaysia in my home country; it’s one of the best universities in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I’m lecturing food microbiology at bachelor degree and master’s level. I always wanted to teach and to do that in Malaysia you need a PhD and Cranfield is the best place to do it.
