Program Overview

Master of Science in Nursing is a programme to prepare the Expert Nurse interest with the current need for Evidence Based Practice (EBP) for the provision of high quality health care, initiating change and improving nursing practices. This is a research-based program where students conduct research under the guidance of a supervisor and submit their thesis at the end of the program. The students will be enhanced with research methodology and statistical skills before starting the research project.

Career Opportunity

The graduates of this program have ample job opportunities in local and international in specialized areas such as working in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), Orthopedics and Trauma, Neuro-Medical/Surgical Unit, Cardiothoracic and in other settings where patients are acutely ill an in need of comprehensive assessment of multiple body systems and intensive therapies.

Career opportunity after completing the programme are Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Administrator, Nurse Educator, Researcher and Consultant (in their field of experience or expertise).

Entry Requirements

Malaysian students:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent from related disciplines as accepted by Higher Education Provider (HEP) Senate from any recognized of higher learning; and
  • To have at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience; and
  • Registered with Malaysian Nursing Board or its equivalent; or
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA 2.75 from related disciplines from any recognized institution of higher learning can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; and
  • At least 3 years experience in relevant field; and
  • Registered with Malaysian Nursing Board or its equivalent; or
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent not meeting CGPA 2.50, from related disciplines from any recognized institution of higher learning can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years working experience in relevant field; and
  • Registered with Malaysian Nursing Board or its equivalent

International students:

  • International qualifications will be assessed by EMGS for approval on case to case basis.
