Course outline

This programme seeks to empower participants by providing a strong fundamental understanding in the field of molecular medicine with an emphasis on translational research for the discovery of biomarkers and the development of diagnostics, vaccines and novel therapeutics for the market. 

The courses are conducted on a flexible curriculum whereby participants can select a research or an industry focused pathway allowing them to customise learning that will be relevant to their career goals.

Programme details

The study of molecular medicine focuses on the cellular and molecular basis of diseases and their interventions. This programme seeks to empower participants by providing a strong fundamental understanding of the field of molecular science through comprehensive lecturers and practical, hands-on experience in research and entrepreneurial aspects in the biomedical field.  

The programme has an emphasis on translational research with a focus on biomarker discovery and the development of diagnostics, vaccines and novel therapeutics for the market.

Programme structure

Semester 1 

  • Molecular basis of diseases
  • Diagnostic technologies & biological markers discovery
  • Vaccines & novel therapeutics 
  • Bioinformatics

Semester 2 

A) Industry pathway 

  • Managing a biomedical-based business
  • Technology management & intellectual property
  • Regulations & quality management systems for the biomedical industry

B) Research pathway 

  • Project management in research
  • Current trends in molecular medicine research I
  • Current trends in molecular medicine research II

Semester 3

  • Research project 

Lectures and tutorials will be conducted with an emphasis on student-centred learning and e-learning. There will be hands-on laboratory practicals in relevant courses. 

Tuition fees

Aside from academic fees, there are some additional charges that are added onto the total cost of the course. Therefore, the final totla cost shown does not include registration and other possible student fees. 

Entry requirements

Applicants should possess the following:

  • A BSc (Hons) in a related field with a CGPA above or equal to 2.75. 

English language requirements

  • TOEFL or IELTS minimum scores for international applicants. 

Additional notes

  1. Fees are subjected to change, for international student may have to refer to latest exchange rates.
  2. Additional cost my incurred depending on situation (Accommodation, laboratories equipment/materials, etc.)
  3. Encourage to study and research laws in Malaysia, as Malaysia is a majority muslim country. It is advisable for international students to understand the country's strict rules and culture.
