The ever increasing energy demand and the threat of fast depleting energy resources in recent times have caused concerns on sustainable energy supply worldwide. Under these circumstances, the oil, gas and energy industry domestically and globally faces with the urgent need for managers and professionals who are not only competent in managing their businesses but who are also visionary leaders capable of driving their energy businesses in a sustainable manner in tandem with the challenging environment. The offering of a Master of Business Administration in Energy Management (MBA-EM) programme is expected to become a very apt solution to develop visionary leaders for the energy industry. The programme comprises 15 modules with 10 core business modules, 5 energy management specialisation modules and a capstone project. The MBA-EM programme will expose students to a wide range of real work challenges and will enrich students’ learning experiences through case studies. Apart from lectures, the MBA-EM programme offers a variety of learning approaches such as seminar, case studies and research based projects – all of which are targeted to authenticate the classroom learning experiences. In order to provide greater value and global exposure to the students, all the five energy management specialisation modules will be delivered by experienced visiting professors from renowned international universities.

The programme objective and learning outcomes are developed with inputs provided by the various stakeholders, namely faculty, industry and regulatory bodies’ representatives, experts and student representatives through several expert panel workshops. The objective and outcome will be periodically reviewed by relevant parties including external examiners.

These modules can be taken in off-campus mode and on-campus mode. For off-campus mode, these modules are taught during weekends in PETRONAS Twin Towers Kuala Lumpur City Centre.

These modules are taught in 8-hour blocks of teaching for 5 consecutive days in PETRONAS Twin Towers Kuala Lumpur City Centre.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must hold a BSc Degree or equivalent from a recognised university and with a minimum of 2 years managerial experience.

English proficiency: TOEFL score of 550 or IELTS band 6 or MUET band 4. Exemption is provided for candidates who are native English speakers or holding a degree with English as the medium of instruction.
